What exactly does Shep check?

Whether the required records exist and are current: imaging and its age, perio charting, initial vs. replacement, prosthesis history, treatment plan and consent status. It confirms a record is present; it doesn't judge image quality.

Does Shep diagnose or recommend treatment?

No. Intentionally. Shep begins after the provider has diagnosed and planned the treatment, and evaluates the record against the documentation rules attached to what was scheduled.

How is Shep different from dental imaging AI?

Imaging AI reads radiographs and highlights areas for a clinician to review. Shep doesn't read images at all. It looks across the record the scheduled treatment depends on and asks whether the documentation that treatment needs exists, is current, and meets the requirement. Different problem, different role.

How is Shep different from claim-checking software?

Claim checks run after treatment, when the claim is being prepared. Shep runs before and during the visit, while a missing record can still be captured. Claims, narratives and attachments are outside the scope of the current pilot rather than a permanent limitation.

Does Shep guarantee compliance or insurance payment?

No software can guarantee claim payment, audit outcomes or complete regulatory compliance. Shep evaluates the record against defined rules and shows what appears complete and what needs attention. Final judgment stays with the provider and the practice.
